Southwestern Michigan College's office of work based learning provides information on available jobs for students who seek part-time or summer jobs, or full-time employment after graduation. Students should look for the Career Services Employment Opportunities channel in SMC Wired for details on current job openings. Applications accepted for these positions are limited to admitted students who are currently enrolled in courses at Southwestern Michigan College.

Full-Time Faculty Openings
Commencing Fall of 2010, Southwestern Michigan College anticipates having the following faculty positions available:
Developmental English and Mathematics:
The Developmental Studies Department is seeking qualified candidates to teach English and Mathematics. The successful English candidate must demonstrate excellence in teaching reading, writing, study skills, and critical thinking. The successful Mathematics candidate must demonstrate excellence in teaching arithmetic, pre-algebra, introductory algebra, and math study skills. Applicants should be familiar with basic skills assessment and have a strong commitment to working with underprepared students within a centralized developmental studies program.
Fine Arts:
Teaching responsibilities may include foundations courses, digital media/graphic design, art history and art appreciation courses. Preference will be given to those applicants who have earned a Master's of Fine Arts degree.
Nursing:
The School of Nursing and Human Services is seeking qualified candidates for classroom and clinical instruction for a variety of nursing theory classes and clinical settings. Candidates must have a MSN and be either currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an RN in the state of Michigan. Previous teaching experience preferred but not required.
All applicants must demonstrate a commitment to student learning and exhibit knowledge of computer and technological skills commensurate with subject area. Minimum requirements include a Master’s degree in related subject area, Ph.D. preferred.
