The collaborative program between Southwestern Michigan College and Ferris State University allows students to apply up to three years of SMC courses toward a bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems and Early Childhood Education at Ferris.

Associate in Applied Science in Accounting

This SMC degree is for those people who specifically want a two-year accounting degree or plan on transferring to Ferris State University to complete a four-year accountancy degree.

Bachelor of Science in Accountancy

The Accountancy major through Ferris integrates a liberal arts foundation with a professional field of student. Graduates are prepared for positions in public accounting, private/industrial accounting, governmental/nonprofit accounting and accounting education.

Associate of Arts

This degree is primarily designed as the equivalent of the first half of a Baccalaureate degree in non-science areas.

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration

The Business Administration major at Ferris provides an avenue for immediate employment and for advancement to upper levels of management. Graduates of the program obtain positions in manufacturing, retailing, construction, financial institutions, government and host of other fields.

Bachelor Science in Business Administration with Professional Tracks

SMC and Ferris have merged two types of degrees into one. Students can start by earning a Certificate or an associate degree in their occupational field of interest through SMC. Then, a student can either work in their field or continue their education by taking the necessary classes to earn this specialized business degree from Ferris. This program appeals to people who would like to start working in their field quickly and then continue on to receive a business degree.

Associate in Applied Science Degree in Information Systems

This degree has been designed to provide individuals with the opportunity to upgrade technical skills and promote career opportunities/advancement. This degree can lead to a bachelor's degree in Information Systems through Ferris State University.

Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems

The Computer Information Systems major provides an avenue for immediate employment in an area that is becoming increasingly essential to all aspects of business. Graduates of the program are prepared for positions as computer programmers, programmer/analyst, systems analysis, network administrators or microcomputer specialists.

Associate in Applied Science in Early Childhood Education

This degree program prepares students for work as preschool teachers, program directors for childcare agencies and family educators or paraprofessionals in Head Start programs.

Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education

In the Early Childhood Education program students learn about the education of children and study early childhood development. Students also receive a broad educational background by completing general education courses. Practical experience is another significant part of the program. To be admitted to this program, students must have 56 transferable credits or an associate degree in early childhood education from SMC or another accredited college.

Ferris State University has an office in The University Center located on the first floor of the Dale A. Lyons Building, Room 139, on the Dowagiac Campus of Southwestern Michigan College.
