Guest Student Registration
Step 1 - Apply for Admissions – As a guest student you can apply online. Your application will be processed in one to two business days.
Step 2 - Select Classes – Select your classes from the online Schedule of Classes.
Step 3 - Check Prerequisites – Check if your class has a prerequisite by clicking on the View Catalog Entry on the Schedule of Classes listing. To show that you have met a prerequisite, fax or mail a student copy of your transcripts to the registrar's office.
Once your transmitted has been submitted, you will need to contact the Academic Support Office at in order to get a prerequisite override before you will be able to register online.
If there are no prerequisite requirements, proceed to Register for Classes.
Step 4 - Register for Classes – Along with your acceptance letter there will be an instruction sheet for registering online. You will receive a SMC Wired user name, password, your SMC e-mail address and Student ID number. Use the SMC Self Service channel located on the My SMC Space tab in SMC Wired to open Student and Financial Aid > Registration > Select Term and step-by-step Registration Instructions are available at the top of the Registration screen in SMC Self Service.
Step 5 - Buy Books - Once you’ve registered, you will need to purchase your textbooks before classes begin. All required student textbooks are available in the SMC Bookstore or online through the SMC Bookstore Web site.
Step 6 - Pay Tuition and Fees - Tuition should paid by deadline listed on the Academic Calendar. Click on the Registration Fee Assessment link through the SMC Self Service channel in SMC Wired to view your balance due. If paying via credit card, call the Business Office with credit card information. You will need to have your Student ID available for identification.
To pay by cash or check, come to the Business Office in the College Services Building at the Dowagiac campus or the Main Office at the Niles Area Campus. To mail your payment, send your check with your Student ID to the Business Office.
SMC is not able to offer financial aid to Guest Students. If you need financial aid, contact the financial aid office of your home school.
