International Student Admissions

The admission process for international students can take up to three months to complete all the admissions requirements. Additional time will be needed for you to obtain a passport and visa and to secure inoculations and vaccination records.

An application for admission is required, including officials transcripts of all previous academic work attempted. International students are required to buy health insurance and the must provide a certified, written statement indicating financial means and support for attending SMC.

International students must demonstrate their English proficiency by submitting the results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or documenting completion of Level 109 of the English as a Second Language (ESL) program.

If the international student resides in the United States, they can take the English language assessment test offered by SMC. Students may be required to take some English language classes which may add to the time needed to complete a program.

Admissions Deadlines

• June 1 – Last date to issue Form I-20 for the Fall Semester
• October 1 – Last date to issue Form I-20 for the Winter Semester
• February 1 – Last date to issue Form I-20 for Spring Semester
