Foundation Scholarships

At a Glance

Several years ago, the Board of Trustees established a matching fund for gifts to the SMC Scholarship, Museum and Technology Endowment Funds ranging between $2,500 and $25,000. As an example, a $2,500 gift doubles to $5,000 and generates a $250 scholarship yearly forever. A $25,000 gift doubles to $50,000 and creates $2,500 in scholarship dollars which forever covers full tuition for two students annually. Once funds are established, all future dollars added to the fund continue to be doubled.

Numerous scholarships totaling many thousands of dollars are provided by area residents, faculty and staff, and other sources. Examples include local scholarships, Board of Trustees scholarships, SMC Foundation scholarships, Endowment Fund scholarships, and Green and Gold scholarships.

The Southwestern Michigan College Foundation is supported by membership contributions in the following categories:

Associate	$1,000-$4,999 annually
Patron	$1,000 annually for five successive years
Fellow	$1,000 annually for 10 successive years
Ambassador	$25,000 +

Persons, firms, or corporations making an extraordinary contribution to the College Foundation will be designated “Honorary Southwestern Michigan College Fellows” by resolution of the Foundation Board of Directors.
