Southwestern Michigan College is continuously upgrading our services to offer the best possible experience for our students, staff, and the community.
The SMC Bookstore, located adjacent to the Dale A Lyons Building, has tripled in size allowing SMC to offer a broader selection of exciting apparel, food, and supplies to enhance each student’s college experience.
The new location also showcases an expanded technology center called the Beak Squad. The Beak Squad is one of Cass County’s largest full-service technology centers with the ability to offer technical assistance, computer trouble shooting, and repair at very competitive prices.
The Beak Squad has a large selection of laptops, tablets, and touchscreen computers with Apple and several PC brands along with printers, high end headphones, and a wide variety of computer accessories.
SMC boasts three conference centers. Two centers are located adjacent to the Fred L. Mathews Library and the third is the Foundation Room located in the Bookstore Annex. Each of these conference rooms can be configured as a lecture hall, a classroom, or a banquet facility. These rooms can be reserved by the public for a fee.
The Birdfeeder Cafeteria is a full-service dining experience located in the College Services Building and has daily specials to ensure a variety in food choices. Zollar Café, located on the west side of campus in the Student Activity Center, offers a variety of breakfast and lunch options. The SMC Bookstore, located on the east side of campus, boasts a large selection of frozen food entrees, as well as many ready-to-eat items.
The college offers a safe campus environment on its Dowagiac and Niles campuses through the implementation of many different types and levels of security, including our Cause for Concern Reporting Systems that can be used to alert our College Concerns team about any situation that is or may become a threat to the campus.
