Continuing Education

Now that you have completed that degree or certificate, you may not be thinking about going back to school. But in order to keep abreast of new technology, methods or practices in your field, you may be required to stay current by taking continuing education courses.

Maybe you just need to take an enrichment course to refresh your language or computer skills. SMC also likes to make learning fun through its enrichment classes including ballroom dancing, photography, ceramics and fitness. Follow the "Enrichment" links under the course offerings listed on the right to find out more.

Southwestern Michigan College can help you meet your professional development needs – whether it be renewing your professional license or refreshing your skills. Through SMC’s Continuing Education Program, you will find a wide choice of continuing education courses. Our offerings with open registration are listed on the right. Depending on when you view this page, the areas of study may include nursing, education, early childhood education, EMS and contractors competency.

Please note that continuing education credits are awarded through SMC by state and professional organizations and do not equate to SMC college credits.

Login Credentials

If you decide to register for a class, you will need to sign in. How you proceed from here depends on which of the following applies to you.

• New Student - No previous relationship with SMC - You will be prompted to provide some basic information and will receive your credentials online during the registration process. Please click the link to the appropriate link under Course Offerings and then the Advanced Search link to proceed to build your schedule and register.
  
  
• Previous or current student - The login credentials that you will need to know from your previous relationship with SMC are your SMC Wired User Name and Password.

  If you know your login credentials, have enrolled in courses within the last 2 years and have continued to use your SMC Wired account, Please click the link to the appropriate link under Course Offerings and then the click on the Advanced Search link to proceed to build your schedule and register.

  If you do not know your credentials or haven't been an active student within the last 2 years, your SMC Wired account may have been disabled. Please complete the Request for Account Credentials for Registration form as soon as possible. Your credentials will be sent to the email address you provide on the form within one (1) business day after receipt of your completed form.
