Call Police: 911

Southwestern Michigan College has police protection from the city of Dowagiac Police Department, the Cass County Sheriff, and the Pokagon Band Tribal Police. Do not hesitate to call 911 if you are experiencing an emergency. Please remain calm when calling 911. Remember that there are multiple entrances to Southwestern Michigan College. Try to include as much detail as possible, including building location and room location or room number.

Can we contact YOU during an EMERGENCY?

Southwestern Michigan College utilizes the Rave Mobile Security System to inform students and employees about school closings, weather alerts, and other emergencies. The Rave system will automatically send out notifications to personal phone numbers “on file” and SMC email addresses. Students and employees may also elect to receive text alerts. An online form is also available for employees or students to sign up for the text messaging option.

Students and employees may verify the numbers on file for them in SMC Wired through SMC Self-Service channel > Personal Information > View Addresses and Phone Numbers or stop by the Student Service Center in the College Services Building on the Dowagiac campus for assistance.
