Art Gallery Exhibits

The Southwestern Michigan College Art Gallery in the Dale A. Lyons Building brings a variety of artists to the Dowagiac Campus to display their work. An exhibit of student and faculty work is also on display through exhibits during the Fall and Winter semesters.

Typically, a reception is held for each exhibit which gives guests an opportunity to talk with the artists themselves. Refer to the Art Gallery Calendar for information on the artists' receptions.

Admission to the exhibits is open to the public and is free of charge.

Kristopher Jones, "New Abstraction"

Kristopher Jones holds an MFA degree from Kendall School of Design. He makes large abstract drawings.
Liz Nurenberg, "Fabricating Identities"

Liz Nurenberg’s work has evolved from traditional painting media to images which combine paint, fabric and thread. She works at Ox-Bow Summer School of Art and is a graduate of Grand Valley State University.

Michael Slaski’s exhibit of modernist art will include: paintings, drawings, carvings and constructions. He resides in Cassopolis, Michigan.

This exhibit will feature highlights from Fall semester classes.

The Niles Art Association is an active group with a very diverse membership. This exhibit will showcase their variety.
Israel Davis, "Pages"

Ceramic Artist, Israel Davis silk screens images on flat slabs of clay. He teaches at Ox-bow Summer School of Art and at the Urban Institute for Contemporary Art in Grand Rapids.

Students with sophomore status are eligible to compete for scholarships.
