Annie Get Your Gun

The Southwestern Michigan College Fine and Performing Arts Department hosts several productions during the Fall and Winter semester which include a fall play, winter musical, holiday concert for the community and band, choral and dance concerts. The events are presented in theatre located in the Dale A. Lyons Building at the Dowagiac campus.

For SMC Productions: general admission is $7, students and senior citizens are $5. Student 18 years and younger are free. Individual tickets go on sale three weeks prior to the event. Click here to view the seating chart for theatre of the Dale A. Lyons Building.

Art Schedule

Throughout the academic year, SMC displays work from area artists as well as students and faculty in its Art Gallery. Follow the Art Gallery Exhibits link on the left to find a schedule of the current art exhibits in the Art Galley located in the Dale A. Lyons Building, Room 108 at the Dowagiac campus.

Fall Play
"12 Angry Jurors"

Thursday, October 22 through
Saturday, October 24, 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, October 25, 2:00 p.m.
A 19 year old man has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father. It looks like an open-and-shut case until one of the jurors begins opening the other’s eyes to the facts. Tempers get short, arguments grow heated and they become 12 angry jurors.
 

Fall Band Concert

Friday, November 6, 7:30 p.m.
An evening of instrumental favorites featuring the SMC Symphonic Band, Brass Band, and Jazz Ensemble.
 

Fall Choral Concert

Friday, November 13, 7:30 p.m.
Presenting a variety of classical, pop, jazz and folk choral music by SMC Select Voices, Men’s Ensemble, Women’s Ensemble, Concert Choir, Evening Chorale and the Show Choir. This concert will also include a performance of Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms in collaboration with the combined choirs of Edwardsburg High School.
 

"SMC and Friends" Concert of Dance

FREE Matinee at 1:00 p.m.
An innovative tapestry of dance will be presented by the Southwestern Dance Ensemble, invited guests artists and alumni. Celebrate the dance with us!
 

Holiday Concert

Saturday, December 12, 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. (Free)
Featuring the Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble, SMC Select Voices and selected small ensembles, these free concerts are SMC’s annual holiday gift to the community.

Frank Loesser’s hilarious musical tale of two New York couples betting on love despite the odds soars with the spirit of Broadway as it introduces us to a cast of vivid characters who have become legends on the stage. With its score of unforgettable songs including “Luck Be A Lady” and “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat,” Guys and Dolls is the quintessential Broadway experience.
