SMC Restricted Endowed Scholarships
Restricted endowed scholarships are offered through the generous support and contributions of area residents and organizations. Scholarship awards are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: donor restrictions (such as curriculum), grade point average, and relative need as determined by congressional formula.
No scholarships listed below will be awarded to a student who does not have valid financial need figures on file in the Financial Aid Office or is not meeting the Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress. You must complete the current Free Application for Federal Student Aid, available from the Financial Aid Office or online using the Related Link provided on this page.
Scholarship recipients will be selected before the end of the winter semester each year and winners will receive mail notification once selection has been made. Scholarships based on this application are for use only during the Fall Semester immediately following the award and the subsequent Winter Semester at Southwestern Michigan College.
Scholarship recipients are required to write a thank you letter to the scholarship donor(s) before any award will be credited to their account.
The completed Restricted Endowed Scholarship Application should be returned to the SMC Financial Aid Office at either the Dowagiac campus or Niles Area Campus. Applications must be received by March 15 each year. Late applications will not be considered. A link to Financial Aid Forms has been provided under Related Links on this page.
No student will receive more than two listed scholarships per award year. Scholarships are restricted to tuition and fees only. Additional restrictions for individual scholarships are listed in parenthesis. Over $40,000 in restricted endowment scholarship funds will be awarded in the 2007-2008 academic year.
