Changing lives, one student at a time
Hello and Welcome!
On behalf of the Board of Directors I would like to thank you for your interest in learning more about our Foundation here at Southwestern Michigan College.
It is the goal of the SMC Foundation to bridge the gap between the needs and resources of the college. Our non-profit, tax-exempt corporation was established in 1971 to provide assistance to SMC students who desire to enhance their lives through education and training. The Foundation also supports the college in areas that are not funded through taxes, tuition and grants.
Currently, we have over 160 scholarships and endowments in existence with the Foundation. Every single one of those endowments helps us carry out our motto, “changing lives, one student at a time.” Over the years, the Foundation also has provided funding assistance to many projects including campus beautification, maintenance of the Roadrunner Trails, and recently the SMC student-led S.T.E.M. Club. We were also able to help provide funding to Down State Left Musicals, a cross-community arts initiative where high school students from across the region participate with our own SMC students in musical productions.
If you have an interest in donating to the Foundation, I strongly encourage you to reach out to our Executive Director, Eileen Toney; you can do so by clicking the Foundation email address above. I would also encourage you to stop by campus to visit the Alumni Welcome Center and History Gallery. So much has happened with the college and the Foundation in the 50 years since its inception, you have to see it to believe it!
Please feel free to take a look around our Community and Alumni pages. We hope to hear from you soon!
