Online Learning/Hybrid Overview

Southwestern Michigan College has combined the best features of face-to-face classroom learning with online technology to form its hybrid courses. Hybrid courses are classes in which a significant portion of the learning activities occur online, as well as in the classroom and through independent study and research. SMC also offers courses that are 100% online through the Ed2Go program.

A typical hybrid course will have about 15 hours of traditional, classroom instruction, 15 hours of online activities, and 15 hours of independent research and study.

Currently, students can complete either an Associate in Arts, an Associate in Applied Science with a Business major or a one-year General Education certificate via online hybrid courses. Not all courses are offered each semester. Check the current SMC schedule of classes for hybrid courses offered during that semester.
