How do I get help?

Internet and Computing Core Certification

Southwestern Michigan College offers several ways for you to become computer literate. Regardless of your career choice or walk of life, you will be touched by the computer revolution. We live in an age where computers are used at every level of most organizations. Often it is assumed that people have basic computing skills because of increasing exposure, however, exposure to computers does not equal understanding. Without applicable skills, it becomes impossible for workers and communities to compete in the world marketplace. Digital skills are not only in high demand – they are essential to an individual’s ability to sustain success in the Digital Age.

SMC has the tools to assist you. Whether you have never owned a computer or grew up using one, SMC offers course options that meet you “where you are” and provide the opportunity to develop your computer literacy skills or validate your current computer expertise.

Level 1 - Teaching and Learning Centers (TLCs)

The TLCs offers basic computing workshops, free for registered students, designed with the beginner in mind. These workshops provide the foundation for the introductory courses offered through Ed2go.

For more information regarding the TLC, contact Jane Brandstatter at 269 782-1388
