Introduction to SMC
How You Can Help Your Student Succeed in College

This guide will introduce you to the tools and resources available to insure that your student completes an academic goal, whether that is a certificate, an associate degree, and/or a successful transfer to a four year college.

We will outline for you the basic academic requirements and what you can expect your student to experience in college. We will also introduce you to the SMC environment: what the social experience of college is like, what kinds of activities your student may get involved in, the safety of our campus, and the potentials for on-campus employment.

We will share with you some basic information about paying for college. Lastly, we will help you understand how to communicate with SMC, and how SMC will communicate with your student.
