Student Employment
At the beginning of each semester, the Computing Services Department will hire student employees as computer lab assistants, administrative computing clerks, and office clerical support staff and for special projects and assignments. If you are interested in becoming a student employee with Computing Services, please read the instructions below, then complete the Student Application for Employment and return them to the Computing Services' offices at the Dowagiac campus.
Jobs which may be available with Computing Services are:
- Computer Lab Assistant
- Data Clerk
- Office Clerical
- Special Assignment
Placement will depend on (in this order):
- Your experience and/or past performance,
- Your availability,
- Your preference for a particular assignment
Directions:
Please take a moment to complete the information and answer the questions on the Computing Services Application. Be sure to complete the question pertaining to the number of hours you are willing to work.
Provide your current availability on the Semester Schedule Form by identifying your SMC courses. Please block out your class schedule and indicate the course name, campus where the course is being held. Also block out other times that you are not available (i.e. job, travel to/from class, etc.) Be sure to include weekend schedules (if you would prefer on to work on weekends, please indicate such and block out. This is the time you are NOT available for work.
The remaining unfilled blocks should indicate the times that you are available for work assignments. We will not schedule you for more hours than you have specified on your Application. Once we have reviewed the Application, we will match individuals to positions and formalize a schedule. We will attempt to provide as many hours for each of you as possible. Based on the total number of applications received, hours may be less than you have specified as a maximum. In some cases, applicants may not receive employment.
These schedules will be available through Computing Services as soon as they have been completed. Each student employee will be contacted with their schedule and provided with instructions for their job.
