MTEC - Training Programs Overview

The MTECsm @ SMC provides training and development opportunities for area companies in the latest techniques of process improvement, such as Lean Manufacturing, leadership, team building, and organizational development.

ABB Industrial Automation

These comprehensive 4 ½-day training programs take a hands-on approach to installation, set-up, maintenance, operation and programming of ABB robots and automation equipment commonly used by the die casting industry.

Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)

MTEC and Hane Training have teamed up to bring you two exciting courses on Allen-Bradley® Controls. AB SLC-500 and AB ControlLogix Systems are common in today’s automated plant environments. These intensive hands-on courses will provide you with the necessary information to maintain and troubleshoot these complex control systems.

Lean Manufacturing

MTEC offers a Lean Manufacturing for Managers program where each module is a minimum of one, 8-hour day – (two-day events include a field trip to local plant.) All events are highly interactive with hands on activities to enhance learning. Topics include team building and organizational readiness, visual factory and workplace organization, value stream mapping and analysis, total productive maintenance, mistake proofing, standardized work, quick changeover and problem solving.

Other Lean Certification Series include Lean Operational Excellence Certification Program and Financial Management for Lean Value Streams.

Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA)

A joint venture by the MTEC and the MIOSHA Consultation, Education and Training Division providing training and education services to area Michigan employers and employees.

North American Die Casting Association (NADCA)

Courses offered are one, two or three days in length and are devoted to various aspects of the die casting process including hydraulic systems, maintenance of die casting machines, circuit design, maintenance and troubleshooting of control systems used in die casting and understanding, practicing and implementing control over the impressive combination of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, thermal, metallurgical and feedback processes functioning simultaneously in the die casting process.

Principles of Better Work Instructions

This comprehensive one-day training program takes a hands-on approach to creating effective documentation and procedures for administrative, production, maintenance and service operations.

Rimrock Ladle and Reciprocator

This comprehensive four-day training program takes a hands-on approach to installation, set-up, maintenance, operation and programming of Rimrock automation equipment commonly used by the die casting industry.
