Escape to Freedom - The Underground Railroad in Michigan
This exciting new tour introduces students in grades second through fifth to several Michiganders active in the Underground Railroad, a secret network to freedom for American slaves. Students will participate in a simulated escape experience and explore mythology of the Railroad, including the story of Peg Leg Joe and the song “Follow the Drinking Gourd.” Students will create and take home a decorated gourd.
