Museum - Images of Dowagiac
The Museum at Southwestern Michigan College has issued the book, “Images of Dowagiac,” written by Steven Arseneau, museum director, and Ann Thompson. Published by Arcadia Publishing Company of Chicago, the book features 200 photographs from the Museum’s photograph collection. The book is part of Arcadia’s well known and popular “Images of America” series.
The Museum has over 5,000 images in its collection, so Arseneau and Thompson had to select the 200 highlights for the book. Images of Dowagiac features photos of Dowagiac from 1860-1948, including the earliest known photograph of Dowagiac.
The book is divided into themes featuring sports, schools, early Dowagiac, people, recreation, businesses, and the Round Oak Stove Company.
