A Tony Award winning musical presented by Southwestern Michigan College with music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown

Thursday – Saturday, March 20-22 at 7:30 p.m. &
Sunday, March 23 at 2:00 p.m.

Theatre in the Dale A. Lyons Building, Dowagiac campus

In 1913, Leo Frank, a Brooklyn-raised Jew living in Georgia, is put on trial for the murder of 13-year-old Mary Phagan, a factory worker under his employ. Already guilty in the eyes of everyone around him, a sensationalist publisher and a janitor’s false testimony seal Leo’s fate. His only defenders are a governor with a conscience, and, eventually, his assimilated Southern wife who finds the strength and love to become his greatest champion.

The tragic, true story of the trial and lynching of a man wrongly accused of murder was brought to emotional and theatrical life in this musical that was nominated for nine 1998 Tony Awards. Southwestern Michigan College is pleased to present one of the most powerful pieces in modern musical theatre.

Parade involves controversial and sometimes graphic subject matter. Not recommended for children.
