David Maxwell has been the Precision Production Technology instructor at Southwestern Michigan College since 2006. He has more than 25 years experience in the machine tool field, as well as four years as a high school instructor in machine tool and welding. Maxwell is certified by the National Institute of Metalworking Skills in numerous level one and level two standards, including:

• CNC Turning: Programming Setup and Operations
• Turning Operations: Turning Between Centers
• CNC Milling: Programming Setup and Operations
• Manual Milling Skills
• CNC Milling Skills II

“Teaching here at SMC has given me the opportunity to go deeper into studying the technologies that are driving the industry I serve, and then sharing this information with my students,” said Maxwell, who has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fort Wayne Bible College and a Masters of Divinity from Grace Theological Seminary.

For enjoyment, Maxwell “plays” with computers and has built several. He continues to study classical languages, which was his minor while in college. “Cicero is one of my favorite reads,” Maxwell added.
