Final Exam Policy
Below is the procedure for determining the date and time for final examinations for all courses in any given semester. This is just a guideline, the official final examination schedule will be posted online internally each semester through SMC Wired, the SMC portal. The final examination schedule is prepared by the office of the Dean of Academic Studies. Questions regarding the final examination schedule should be directed to the Dean's office or verified with the instructor for the course.
The Final Exam Schedule will be posted internally on SMC Wired (the portal used by SMC students, faculty and staff) and on this page approximately two weeks prior to exam week.
Fall and Winter Semesters

Please note that the 1st, 2nd and 3rd days of finals are considered to be regular week days. Any classes held on Saturday or Sunday will have their finals on Saturday from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Early evening classes (those beginning at 4:30 p.m. or later and ending by 7:00 p.m.) have a final exam time from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on the day they regularly meet.
Evening Class Finals
All evening class finals will be posted online on the actual semester final exam schedule.
Mid-Semester Courses
Classes ending mid-semester will usually have finals on the last day of class. Classes starting mid-semester and ending at the official end of semester will follow the regular class final exam schedule. Please verify with the instructor of the course.

Southwestern Michigan College reserves the right to make any necessary change in the schedule. If SMC must cancel a class for any reason, the Academic Support staff will attempt to contact all students. Please keep your current phone number on file so that SMC can contact you.
