The total cost of attending any college includes tuition, fees, books and supplies, transportation, and housing. Because Southwestern Michigan College has affordable tuition and few mandatory fees, your costs will be significantly less than if you were attending a large university.
Your tuition will be based on where you live. If you live in on-campus housing, your tuition rate will be based on your permanent home address. The college will require verification of residency.
SMC calculates tuition costs on the number of contact hours for each class you have enrolled in. Contact hours are the total amount of weekly instructional time you receive in a class, including lectures and labs.
Net Price Calculator
The Net Price Calculator, developed by the U.S. Department of Education, gives students and their families an idea of what college costs would look like based on their individual circumstances, such as the size of their family and their family’s income. This information would go beyond a school’s “sticker price” to help students and families better estimate their actual costs to attend that institution, once grants and scholarship aid are taken into consideration.
