Division of Advanced Technologies Overview
The Southwestern Michigan College Division of Advanced Technologies offers certificates and two-year Associate in Applied Science degrees in some of the most high-tech, high-demand careers.
According to the U.S. Dept. of Labor, many manufacturing and construction jobs are going unfilled because of a lack of skilled workers who are trained on high-tech equipment and software. Each of SMC’s programs offers a working lab designed with the latest equipment found in many companies, as well as the newest software technology available. Students receive hands-on experience from faculty who has many yeas of expertise in their ‘trade.’
Additionally, SMC’s internship program offers students a ‘real world’ experience, enhancing the connection between work and learning as well as preparing students for a successful career.
The Division of Advanced Technologies also emphasizes ‘green’ technology, infusing the knowledge of energy efficiency throughout each program.
