Electrical Systems Technology Overview

Rockwell RS Logix Lab

Students can earn a one-year certificate as well as a two-year associate in applied science degree in Electrical Systems Technology. The program prepares students for the emerging discipline of mechatronics (electrical and mechanical engineering), hydraulics, pneumatics, computer-assisted engineering and Microsoft Visual Basic.Net – all important components for a career in the automated manufacturing process.

The AAS degree trains students for the Basic Entry Level Certification (CETa) exam through the Electronics Technician Association International, while the certification provides students with the skills to take the Electronics Technician exam for students.

Utilizing computers or programmable logic controllers and machine interfaces in the Electrical Systems Technology lab, located in SMC’s Niles Area Campus, students learn the skills necessary to work in the manufacturing industry as equipment maintenance personnel.
