The Alumni Plaza, located in the center of Southwestern Michigan College’s Dowagiac campus, is dedicated to the past, present, and future of the college.
The elevated circular plaza with surrounding seating has become a gathering place for students and a site for outdoor performances. Friends and Alumni can etch their name in college history by supporting the ongoing building project of the Alumni Plaza.
By purchasing an engraved clay paver or limestone band, you will have the unique opportunity to create a visible memorial or tribute as a lasting symbol of support to the college. This is an on-going campaign that is used to fund student scholarships.
The commemorative clay pavers and limestone bands make a wonderful gift to honor graduates’ accomplishments, as well as recognizing the support provided by family members, community members, and businesses..
Alumni and friends can order a commemorative clay paver or limestone band by clicking the Make a Purchase button on the right and filling out the order form. To order by phone, call the SMC Development Office at 269-782-1275.
The Alumni Plaza is the first phase of an exciting two-part project. The College’s long-term plan is to add a 70-foot high landmark clock tower to the plaza as well. The College is currently seeking a donor to fund the construction of the tower that will bear the name of the individual or organization that makes this possible.
The Clock Tower will add the finishing touch to the campus, which will provide the physical atmosphere complementing the superior academic environment that Southwestern Michigan College students enjoy.
If you are interested in learning more information about the future of the Clock Tower at SMC, please contact the Development Office.
