The bookstore at Southwestern Michigan College works in partnership with SMC instructors to ensure that the bookstore carries the course materials essential to the success of our students in the classroom. At our bookstore, we look to maximize student access to materials through many convenient and affordable options including the following:
Textbook rental makes course materials more affordable, provides substantial savings off the new book price and increases sustainability by reusing textbooks multiple times. Customers can rent in-store or online, making it easy to rent with multiple forms of payment, such as cash, credit, debit or financial aid. Requirements are that you be 18 years of age, have a valid government-issued ID, a valid credit card, email address and primary phone number.
If you find an identical in-stock textbook for rent or purchase priced lower elsewhere, tell us. We will match it, right at the register. See store for details and restrictions.
Digital Books Through the Bookstore
Cut your textbook costs! Southwestern Michigan College’s bookstore is offering many textbooks for classes in a digital (eBook) format.
Shop By Author
By organizing your course materials by author, instead of division, department, course and section, we make it easy for students to find what they need to fuel preparedness. Easily access needed materials by author and make one pass through the course materials aisle or access all the needed materials in one shopping list online. Shop By Author leverages our Follett Discover Access technology and can be found by clicking GET MY LIST or by going to the bookstore’s web page.
Do you know your courses and/or have your student ID? Then you are ready to order all your textbooks and course materials online at shopsouthwestern.com. We accept all forms of credit cards as well as financial aid. Your purchase will be shipped to your home at the bookstore's standard rate of $7.50 or for free on purchases greater than $100. In-store pick up at the Dowagiac and Niles campuses will not be available while the campus is closed.
Apparel, accessories and gifts can also be purchased online. For more information and to see the financial aid policy visit swmich.edu/bookstore, or see the bookstore FAQs page for assistance placing your order.
