Southwestern Michigan College has a full-service cafeteria and a café that are operated by Tim Carrigan from JML Catering.
A chef for more than 20 years, Carrigan is a graduate of the Culinary Arts program at Grand Rapids Community College and currently serves as the executive chef at Fernwood Botanical Garden. He also served for four years as the program chair of the Culinary Arts program at Ivy Tech. Carrigan currently teaches at Buchanan High School.
The Birdfeeder Cafeteria is located on the first floor of the David C. Briegel Building on the Dowagiac campus. The Birdfeeder offers a full lunch menu, including home-style daily specials, fresh salads, and freshly made soups, as well as grilled sandwiches and deep-fried food items.
The Zollar Café, located in the Student Activity Center (SAC) serves breakfast including waffles, cereal, oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, muffins, scones, gourmet coffee, cappuccino, and smoothies. The café also has fresh salads, hot paninis, and wraps for lunch.
For students attending classes at the Niles campus, a variety of vending machines are available in the commons.
