Course Description

Prerequisite: Minimum grade of C in NURS 177T, NURS 177L or NURS 177, and NURS 178, and NURS 180T, NURS 180L or NURS 180 and previous or concurrent enrollment in NURS 228. This course focuses on the theoretical and clinical application of concepts, principles, and skills needed for identifying and meeting diverse adult medical-surgical client care needs. Emphasis is placed on the theoretical knowledge of the nurse’s role in caring for those adults experiencing complex and chronic problems including: medical and surgical interventions, holistic care before, during, and after medical or surgical interventions, and health promotion, education and maintenance in relation to complex and chronic health problems. [Semesters Offered: Fall, Spring]
