Southwestern Michigan College offers a MIOSHA Part 2 Walking/Working Surfaces Course.
Who Should Attend
This seminar is a must for anyone concerned about health and safety on the job including:

- Business owners who want to learn about compliance with Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA).
What You'll Learn
Part 2 – Walking-Working Surfaces is a performance rule set and intended to provide information regarding safety in all places of employment where employees access horizontal and vertical walking-working surfaces. The rules are an adoption of the Federal OSHA’s Walking-Working Surface Rules and provides minimum performance guidance for employers to follow where employees use fixed and portable ladders, mobile ladder stands and mobile ladder stand platforms, step bolts and manhole steps, stairways and dockboards, scaffolds and rope decent systems. Emphasis is placed on duty to have fall protection and falling object protection, fall protection and falling object protection criteria and practices, and training requirements.
MIOSHA Training Institute Scholarship Program
MIOSHA Training Institute Scholarships cover 50% of the regular course fee. Interested individuals should complete the MIOSHA Training Institute (MTI) Scholarship Application online. You must also select a course that is more than 3 weeks away from the start date of a selected course, but not more than 3 months away from the start date. After notification of scholarship approval from the MIOSHA Consultation Education and Training (CET) Division, applicants must register for this course within five business days. Applicants must receive approval of their scholarship before registering for this course. If applicant fails to register within five days the approval for the scholarship will be rescinded and applicant will need to reapply.
Course Cancellation Due to Low Enrollment: SMC reserves the right to cancel this course because of low enrollment. A 100% refund will be made to enrollees of all the fees attributable to the cancelled class.
Deadline to Drop: Any cancellations by enrollees made prior to Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 5 p.m. will result in a full refund of monies paid. No refund will be given for cancellations received after the deadline to drop stated above.
