Hinton graduating early, destined for engineering in Utah
“I feel like I’m a completely different person than high school,” Hinton, 19, said. “I was timid and didn’t like to talk to people. I used to be really socially awkward. I’m no longer uncomfortable in social situations. Leaving home forced me to find myself. I feel like I just got here yesterday.”
SMC accepting applications for new paralegal program
“There’s a big push from the ABA and state bars for using paralegals to cut costs,” Letter said. “One way (firms) do that is to delegate work to someone who’s qualified to do the job under the oversight of an attorney. There’s a growing recognition that there’s a big need out there for legal assistance that’s not being met because not everyone can afford legal services from an attorney.

“Part of logistics is how you get Hershey bars out of the plant and into stores in the middle of summer,” Letter said. “India has outdoor markets,” Mitchell said, “so Hershey’s came up with (squeeze tubes) similar to (Yoplait’s) Go Gurt.”

Wallenda extols perseverance to SMC students
“The largest I’ve done was in Korea with cables 60 or 70 feet in the air stretched over the Han River in downtown Seoul,” he said. “It was a distance of one kilometer, 3,300 feet — 11 football fields end to end. The highest walk I’ve done was a mere 320 feet at a height of 179 feet, rivaling an 18-story building.”
Fricke finishing degree to celebrate turning 50
“The biggest obstacles were in my mind,” Fricke found. “Everybody’s so nice, including professors. They are willing to help and passionate about what they do, which gets me passionate. If I can do it, anybody can. I’m always up for an adventure.”
