Sessions

Welcome and SMC Overview

Learn why SMC is a great option both for students interested in a career that requires a bachelor’s degree or higher and for those pursuing a career in a skilled trade (welding, nursing, robotics, etc.).

Student Panel

New Student Orientation Leaders share the inside scoop on what it's like to be a student at SMC and answer all your questions.

Parent Q&A

SMC staff from a variety of departments will be available to answer any questions parents may have.

Program Overviews

Deans from the School of Business and Advanced Technology, School of Arts and Sciences, and School of Nursing and Health Services review the unique features of the courses and programs in the respective schools such as honors projects, hands-on learning opportunities and highly engaged faculty with a strong commitment to student success.

Making College Affordable

It is possible to pay less than $25,000 to earn a bachelor’s degree. This presentation will provide strategies to minimize the cost of earning a degree by comparing the cost of a college degree at a community college to the cost at a four-year institution. A step-by-step guide to completing an associate degree debt free will also be explained.

College and Career Planning for the Undecided Student

Dean of Student Development Katie Hannah will provide recommendations for students who are not sure what they want to study in college, as well as useful resources to assist them in developing a career plan.
