SMC Overview: Excellence with a Personal Touch

Learn why SMC is a great option both for students interested in a career that requires a bachelor’s degree or higher and for those pursuing a career in a skilled trade (welding, nursing, robotics, etc.).

Earning a Degree with Minimal Debt

It is possible to pay less than $25,000 to earn a bachelor’s degree. This presentation will provide strategies to minimize the cost of earning a degree by comparing the cost of a college degree at a community college to the cost at a four-year institution. A step-by-step guide to completing an associate degree debt free will also be explained.

Program Overviews

Deans and faculty from the School of Business and Advanced Technology, School of Arts and Sciences, and School of Nursing and Health Services review the unique features of the courses and programs in the respective schools such as honors projects, hands-on learning opportunities and highly engaged faculty with a strong commitment to student success.

Student Panel

Current SMC students discuss their experience at SMC and answer all your questions.

Parent Q&A

SMC staff answer parents' questions. Topics may include financial aid, tutoring, student support and campus safety.

Career Planning for the Undecided Student

This interactive session will allow undecided students to explore career options using a career interest inventory. Students can talk with an advisor about how to navigate college as an undecided student and how to decide on a major.

Ferris State University Transfer Programs

Southwestern Michigan College offers several bachelor’s degree and certificate options on our Dowagiac campus through Ferris State University. Andrew Churchill, FSU Student Services Officer, will review the programs.

Understanding the FAFSA

Filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is one of the most important steps to finding help to pay for college. Come learn about the FAFSA and how to apply!
