Spring New Student Orientation

December 7 and 20
8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. | Dowagiac Campus

Your life as an SMC Roadrunner is about to begin!

All students starting at SMC in January are expected to attend a New Student Orientation session.

Attend a New Student Orientation session to register for classes, learn about campus resources and how to succeed in your program, meet key staff including your program dean and finish up last-minute business.

Parents are welcome—we’ll have special sessions for them too!

Check in at the Student Activity Center. For your convenience, please use the Dailey Road parking lot.

Schedule

8-10 a.m.

Check-in

Plan to arrive at 8 a.m. if you need to complete placement tests. If you do not need to complete placement tests, you can come later, but you may still wish to come early to take care of other business or to tour campus and find your classrooms.

Testing (optional)

The need for placement tests is determined by your SAT/ACT score. Ask your advisor if you need to complete placement tests. Placement tests take approximately two hours to complete. We strongly encourage students to complete placement tests before orientation day. You cannot register for classes until you complete placement tests or demonstrate proficiency though sufficient SAT/ACT scores.
