Summer Musical Theatre Camp is a two-week experience for high school students designed to encourage the study of acting, singing and theatre production. This year, participants will learn from guest professional coach Katie Travis, who stars as Christine in the North American Tour of The Phantom of the Opera. The camp will culminate with a musical theatre performance by camp participants. The 2017 musical will be Children of Eden by Stephen Schwartz, composer of Godspell and Wicked.
Summer Musical Theatre Camp is part of SMC's Summer Institute, a series of camps designed to help high school students refine their skills and explore career interests.
Audition, Casting and Registration Information
Those wishing to be a cast member must fill out the application and audition. Auditions will be held at area high schools followed by an open audition at SMC. RSVPs for the open audition at SMC are encouraged. Reserve your audition time here.
Students should prepare a theatre song to sing at the audition. A song from Children of Eden is preferred. For a full list of characters and to sample music from the show visit mtishows.com/children-of-eden.
After auditioning, students continuing to the next round of auditions will be asked to come to campus for call backs. The final cast will be selected after call backs. After students are accepted as part of the cast, they may pay the camp registration fee.
Technology Crew Members
To apply to be a part of the crew, fill out the application and select Technology Crew Member. Students will be asked to list their relevant experience, the number of shows they've worked on, and the directors they have worked with. Students will be notified when a decision has been reached; after that time they may pay the camp registration fee.

About Children of Eden
Description from Music Theatre International:
From musical theatre greats Stephen Schwartz and John Caird comes a joyous and inspirational musical about parents, children and faith...not to mention centuries of unresolved family business!
Adam, Eve, Noah and the "Father" who created them deal with the headstrong, cataclysmic actions of their respective children. The show ultimately delivers a bittersweet but inspiring message: that "the hardest part of love...is letting go."
